The one curled up on the foot of the recliner is Nicki, the one I'm holding is Nora. They're about 14 months old and fully grown, which in their case means five pounds and eight pounds, respectively. We have to keep an eye on them when they go outside because we have hawks around here, and Nicki is small enough she could get carried off. They're very sweet pups.

Now I wonder where those names came from? Do we really live in the same country? Of course, we now have coyotes in Detroit.

We worry about coyotes, too. Some nights they howl all around us.

I hope they're housebroken.

They're beautiful, and with lovely names. Yeah, we have coyotes here too.

Nice, friendly breed. Great dogs to have. You dont need to worry about hawks as much as about coyotes and other rabies carriers - skunks etc.

Each of my girls has a Chihuahua, Toby and Tiny. Great little dogs. I stayed close to them when they went outside as pups, but don't worry now.

Is it just me . . . or do those ears look like they are in protection mode? Let the yipping . . . I mean barking begin.
